The other day, I was gifted Samuel Pepys’ diary, close to ten years of daily journaling from the 17th century; which inspired me to do something similar: as of today, I will try to write something (anything, really) on a daily basis. Any topics that come to mind, sometimes quite brief, sometimes possibly more elaborate.

Not really, but there is a lot of purple.

General Seth's (the father of Freya's brothers) insignia is purple, later becoming Freya's family emblem. This, in turn, leads the Rascals to pick the colour for their locomotive design, which explodes in the sky at the end of book two, leading to this visual of Zonasius flapping around in a purple sky. It's why the subtitle is "Rascals of the Purple Legacy"

When I started writing, it was a different expression, and initially, I assumed it was unrelated to my visual work. However, as I scrolled through some of my old work today, I realised I've been world-building from the cells up to the cosmic for a long time. Even the characters popped up in work I made years ago. Long before I even started to write any of them.

Let's say I go full Naria, stumble through my wardrobe and emerge in Ethereal. I'd like to say I'd be friends with Freya, but she's a bit hidden away in the WIP. The Rascals are still tiny children in this book.

I think I would bump into Cedric first while he is performing at festivals. I'd love to see his psychedelic illusion magic-adorned work. I don't know if I'd really be a friend or a fan.

I have a working cover/ title. Every so often, I change it to match the content.

I just renamed book 8 from "Waiting in the Dark," which was a very early working title, to this new title, and I'm rather pleased with it. It represents the book as a whole a lot more. Well, so far. We'll see where these next chapters take us.
