#Forgejo v8.0 was just released! Get it at https://forgejo.org/download/.
Forgejo v8.0 is available with new features (support for workflow dispatch, better defaults to avoid spam on new instances etc.), a new approach to UI and UX, careful upgrade of dependencies to improve stability and security. Foundation parts for ActivityPub based federation and data portability were merged, bringing these features closer to completion, but they're not available yet.

@forgejo The Forgejo helm chart seems to still be at 7.0.5. I was told this by someone who wants to switch from Gitea to Forgejo, but has to wait for a 8.0.0 helm chart to be released :D
@forgejo So exciting!
@forgejo We are looking forward to deploy this upgrade ASAP. We already started preliminary testing previously, but we still have some patches to port over.
Thanks to all Forgejo contributors for the hard work.
@bhawthorne @Codeberg @forgejo it's not even friday yet!
@forgejo The update worked wonderfully well, as always. I got a warning about app.,ini being in a deprecated location and just moved it, now the warning is gone.
How can we get rid of the GITEA_
environment variables? At least GITEA_APP_INI
and GITEA_APP_INI_LEGACY
are automatically created when recreating the container, using the latest rootless version 8 Docker image.
@forgejo@floss.social "The breaking changes were reduced to a minimum because there is now an increased focus on backward compatibility."
GOOD!
PS: only removal of mssql support and elk as breaking changes this time?
i don't have much knowledge for the repercussion of the latter, i don't think i'm using it...
@forgejo@floss.social update to 8.0 rolled smoothly.
also took my sweet time to edit conf to remove deprecated default conf path warning
@forgejo yet another banger update!!
@forgejo
Wohooo, it's update time again!
